2004 Wimbledon Championships – Men's Singles

Roger Federer defeated Andy Roddick 4–6, 7–5, 7–6(7–3), 6–4 in the final to win the Gentlemen's Singles title at the 2004 Wimbledon Championships. This tournament also marked the beginning of Federer's record streak of reaching 23 consecutive Grand Slam semi-finals and 36 consecutive Grand Slam quarter-finals.
This tournament marked the final Grand Slam appearance of 2001 champion Goran Ivanišević, having announced his decision to retire once he finished competing at this edition of the Championships. His last match, in the third round, was played on Centre Court, where he was defeated by 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt, bringing an end to his injury-plagued career.〔(Hewitt ends Ivanisevic's Wimbledon swansong - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) )〕〔(BBC SPORT | Tennis | Hewitt ends Ivanisevic dream )〕
